What is Chemical Peeling?

A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck or hands.

The Procedure

A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

Different products and dosages are used for different conditions. A superficial peel may be repeated every 2-4 weeks for multiple sessions. Medium and deep peels are in general done once.

A good skin preparation for 2-3 weeks using skin creams is a must before any skin peel.

Procedure can take 20-30 minutes

What about the recovery?

Superficial peel: In general the recovery is smooth and rarely the patient may feel some discomfort or pain for few days. A gentle peeling will happen over 5-7 days.

Medium and deep peel: The face will show a darker color and peels over 7-10 days.

Possible Chemical Peeling complications

Like any procedure, there are possible complications: redness, facial scarring.
